Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, or KAP, uses low doses of ketamine to help people work through mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and PTSD. In a KAP session, I guide you through your thoughts and emotions while you're in a relaxed, open state induced by the ketamine. The idea is that ketamine can help you access and process feelings or memories that might be harder to get to otherwise, making therapy feel more immersive and sometimes leading to insights that might not come up in a traditional therapy setting. It's carefully managed to keep you safe and make sure the experience is beneficial.
The Process
PREPARATION SESSIONS
A minimum of 5 sessions required before KAP. $150/session - BCBS Accepted
Preparation sessions for ketamine-assisted therapy are all about getting you comfortable and ready for the experience. In these sessions, we'll talk about what to expect, any concerns you might have, and set some goals for what you’d like to get out of the therapy. You'll go over practical stuff, like what the session will look like and how ketamine works, but also dive into why you’re there—like what specific challenges you want to address. It’s also a chance to build trust with me, so when it’s time for the actual ketamine session, you feel supported and ready to explore.
MEDICAL SCREENING
Out-of-pocket cost $200
The medical screening for ketamine-assisted therapy is a quick but important check-in to make sure ketamine is safe for you. You'll go over your health history with a professional, covering things like any current medications, past or present mental health conditions, and any other medical issues that could affect your experience with ketamine. They might do a physical exam or ask for some basic lab tests, just to double-check. This screening helps keep everything safe and ensures that ketamine is a good fit for your treatment plan.
MEDICINE SESSIONS
Number of medicine sessions will be based on what you need. $400/session out-of-pocket
In a medicine session for ketamine-assisted therapy, you take a low dose of ketamine in a safe, controlled setting with me present. After taking it, you settle into a relaxed, often dream-like state, which can help you access emotions, memories, and insights that might be harder to reach in regular therapy. I'm there to guide you, ask gentle questions, and help you explore whatever comes up. You might feel a sense of openness or a new perspective on things, and I'm there to help you make sense of it. It’s a unique space where you can work through tough emotions or experiences with the ketamine as a supportive tool.
INTEGRATION SESSIONS
Required to attend within 7 days of each medicine session. $150/session - BCBS Accepted
An integration session is where we unpack everything that came up during your ketamine session. It’s all about connecting the dots—taking any insights, emotions, or experiences from the ketamine experience and figuring out how they fit into your everyday life. You talk through what you felt, what you saw, and how it might relate to your goals or challenges. I'll help you make sense of it all, guiding you on how to use these insights in real, practical ways. It’s like taking what you learned in the session and figuring out how to carry it forward into positive change.
